Your Pet should be included in Your Wedding
|
by Sheryl Shapiro
Including your furry friend in your wedding can be a heartwarming experience. After all, pets are family too! However, it can also be a bit challenging to get everything just right. Here are some tips to help you include your pet in your wedding:
- Check with Your Venue: Before you get too excited, make sure your venue allows pets on the premises. Some venues may have restrictions or require specific documentation for pets on the property.
- Choose the Right Role: Decide on the role you want your pet to play in the ceremony. Do you want them to be a ring bearer, flower girl, or just walk down the aisle with you? Whatever role they play, make sure it is something that suits their personality and comfort level.
- Practice, Practice, Practice: Just like any other member of your wedding party, your pet needs to practice their role. Start training them early, so they get used to the idea of walking down the aisle or holding the rings in their mouth.
- Dress Them Up: Consider dressing up your pet in wedding attire, such as a bowtie, collar, or dress. Make sure the outfit is comfortable and doesn't restrict their movement or breathing.
- Assign a Handler: During the ceremony and reception, assign a trusted friend or family member to handle your pet. This person can keep an eye on your pet, make sure they are comfortable, and take them outside for potty breaks.
- Plan for Emergencies: Even with the best planning, accidents can happen. Plan ahead for emergencies by bringing plenty of water, treats, and a first-aid kit. You may also want to have a backup plan in case your pet becomes anxious or overwhelmed.
